Recognize Triplett for the team’s

Outstanding efforts to drive the fabrication of machined lugs which support a critical path component on the RS-25 Engine known as the Main Combustion Chamber (MCC). The lugs are a key part of the thrust load path and the linkage of the engine’s Thrust Vector Control (TVC) System, allowing thrust to be “vectored” or pointed in a different direction so the SLS vehicle can be steered or maneuvered during ascent. Despite the initial development challenges encountered, Triplett’s tenacity is surpassing the learning curve has resulted in two sets of production lug deliveries made significantly ahead of program needs. It is anticipated that the outstanding sets will keep with the same pace due to the since of urgency that Triplett has exhibited thus far. The lugs become part of the MCC assembly when they are electron beam (EB) welded to forward and aft manifolds. The initial set of development lugs were successfully tested on August 14th at Stennis Space Center on MCC unit #8001 with the most recent deliveries anticipated to support certification and production engine unit #1.

We rely on our suppliers for a variety of hardware, making it absolutely important that our suppliers embrace the objectives of quality hardware delivered on time. Aerojet Rocketdyne appreciates the partnership that has developed amongst our teams and we believe this type of relationship will continue to deliver mutual successes for our organizations.

The RS-25 Team and NASA thanks Tripett for a job well done and looks forward to a long-lasting relationship as we proceed on our journey to Mars and beyond.
